Institute.John R. Owen was born in Toronto, Canada. Mr. Owen received
his undergraduate education at the University of Alberta, where he
received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982. Mr. Owen attended law
school at Oklahoma City University where he received his Juris
Doctorate in 1985. While at Oklahoma City University, Mr. Owen was a
member of Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity.
Mr. Owen was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 1985 and the State Bar of
Texas in 1989. Mr. Owen is also admitted to practice before the United
States District Courts in the Northern District of Texas and the
Western District of Oklahoma.
Mr. Owen has comprehensive litigation experience in the following areas
of law: insurance litigation, premises liability, products liability
and medical malpractice, including the defense of medical negligence
suits on behalf of insurance companies, physicians, multi-practice
groups and hospitals. Mr. Owen also has extensive trial experience, as
evident by his participation in approximately 50 Civil Trials.
Mr. Owen is a member of the Dallas, Oklahoma and American Bar
Associations, The State Bar of Texas, The Texas Association of Defense
Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
Gerard
"Jerry" T. Fazio
Partner
Jerry was born and raised in Dallas,
Texas. Mr. Fazio attended high school
at Skyline High School and served
as Student Body President and Captain
of the debate team. He then went on
to the University of Texas at Arlington
on a scholarship where he earned a
double B.A. with majors in Political
Science and Speech Communication.
While at UTA, Jerry and his partner
qualified for the National Debate
Tournament capping off a successful
career competing in college debate
tournaments across the country. Jerry
attended law school at South Texas
School of Law and was a member of
their nationally recognized moot court
program where he also traveled throughout
the country competing in moot court
tournaments against other law school
advocacy programs. Prior to engaging
in private law practice, Jerry was
selected as the briefing attorney
with Chief Justice J. Curtis Brown
of the Fourteenth Court of Appeals
in Houston for one year. Jerry is
a shareholder in the law firm of Owen
& Fazio, P.C. Prior to establishing
Owen & Fazio, P.C., Jerry practiced
law with Dodge, Fazio, Anderson &
Jones, P.C. and Burford & Ryburn
practicing general insurance defense
litigation and nonsubscriber claim
defense.
Jerry has successfully represented
companies and individuals accused
of committing various negligent acts
that have caused personal injuries
throughout the State of Texas for
the last sixteen years. Jerry is an
AV rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell.
Jerry is admitted to practice before
the United States Supreme Court, in
all state courts in the State of Texas
along with being admitted to practice
in the District of Columbia, the Fifth
Circuit Court of Appeals, United States
District Courts for the Northern,
Southern, Eastern, and Western District
of Texas. Jerry is a member of the
Texas College of the State Bar of
Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation, the
Texas Association of Defense Counsel
and a certified mediator.
During his time away from work, Jerry
enjoys playing golf and travel. Jerry
is a resident member of Royal Oaks
Country Club. He serves on the Board
of Directors for Camp Summit, Inc.,
and is a member of St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Church and a member of the
Knights of Columbus Council #799.

Gregory
Alan Scott
Of Counsel
Mr. Scott is a former police officer
with the Dallas Police Department.
He received a Bachelor of Science
Degree with honors from Southwest
Texas State University in 1982, a
Master of Arts Degree in Political
Science from the University of Texas
at Arlington in 1984 and his Juris
Doctorate Degree from St. Mary's University
School of Law in 1987. He received
a second Master of Arts Degree in
History from the University of Texas
at Arlington in 1996.
Mr. Scott focuses his insurance defense
practice in the areas of arson, insurance
fraud, and defense of third party
casualty claims including wrongful
death actions. He is licensed to practice
in the State of Texas, the Supreme
Court of the United States, the United
States Court of Appeals for the Fifth
Circuit, and the United States Districts
Courts for the Eastern, Western, Southern
and Northern Districts of Texas. Mr.
Scott's professional memberships have
included the State Bar of Texas, the
American Bar Association, Texas Association
of Defense Counsel, Dallas Bar Association
and the Dallas Association of Defense
Counsel.
Mr. Scott is Board Certified in Civil
Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial
Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Scott has successfully tried dozens
of civil lawsuits to verdict.

Bobby
Womble

Robert
A. "Bobby" Womble was born in Dallas,
Texas. Mr. Womble received his undergraduate
degree from the University of Texas
in Austin, where he received a Bachelor
of Arts in Government with a minor
in Economics in 1988. Mr. Womble attended
law school at Cumberland School of
Law in Birmingham, Alabama where he
received his Juris Doctorate in 1993.
Mr. Womble has comprehensive experience
in real estate and securities transactions.
Mr. Womble worked in mergers and acquisitions
for the Federal Savings and Loan Corporation/
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
in Washington D.C. for the Southwest
Plan and Resolution Trust Corporation.
After receiving his JD, Mr. Womble
began his law career in mergers and
acquisitions and securities. Mr. Womble
specialized in initial public offerings
and private placements. From there,
Mr. Womble became in house counsel
for a Dallas based Mortgage Lender,
Entrust Financial Corporation "Entrust".
Mr. Womble is the Chief Financial
Officer and Chief Operating Officer
for Entrust.
Mr. Womble lives in Dallas with his
wife Shannon and three daughters.
Mr. Womble is a Board Member for Dallas
Area Habitat for Humanity; Member
of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas;
and a Board Member at Royal Oaks Country
Club (where he carries a 5 handicap).

Charlie S. Reed

Charlie S. Reed was born in Pusan, Korea. Mr. Reed received his undergraduate education at Oklahoma City University, where he received a Bachelor of Religion degree in 1995. Mr. Reed attended Oklahoma City University on a 4 year academic scholarship.
Mr. Reed attended law school at University of Oklahoma where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1999. While at University of Oklahoma, Mr. Reed spent a summer studying abroad at Queens College in Oxford, England. Mr. Reed was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2000. Mr. Reed is also admitted to practice before all United States District Courts in Texas.
Mr. Reed has comprehensive litigation experience in the following areas of law: family law, commercial litigation, transportation litigation, real estate litigation, construction litigation, insurance litigation, premises liability, products liability and medical malpractice, including the defense of medical negligence suits on behalf of insurance companies, physicians, multi-practice groups and hospitals.

Holly D. Friedman
Associate
Holly D. Friedman was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Ms. Friedman graduated from the University of North Texas in 1998 with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. The following year, Ms. Friedman attended the University of Texas at Arlington where she received a Master of Science Degree in Social Work. After graduation, Ms. Friedman worked in the Solicitor General’s office in Atlanta, Georgia where she was a counselor and advocate for victims of crime.
Ms. Friedman attended law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. She received her Juris Doctorate in 2005. Prior to joining Owen and Fazio, Ms. Friedman practiced as a Lead Attorney for the United States Small Business Administration where she assisted in the development and implementation of the Hurricane Katrina Grant Program.
Ms. Friedman currently practices in the areas of family law; medical malpractice, insurance defense, products liability, and premises liability
She is an active member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Young Lawyers Association, American Bar Association and Young Texans Against Cancer where she serves as member of the development committee.
